Interview with Helmuth Ritzer from PlayStation-Disorder

June 23rd, 2008 | Category: Interview, PS3

I have had the pleasure of Interviewing the owner of a great website that i urge you to check out and subscribe to, Helmuth runs PlayStation-Disorder so here is the interview in full

Tell us a bit about yourself

Helmuth Ritzer is the name, I am 44 years old and I am living close to Stuttgart, which is in the south of Germany. During day hours I am an IT guy.

Tell us about your site

The site is not so much one of those typical news update sites that basically replicate the news from kotaku or Joystiq all over the place. I really like to comment on a few things that come to my mind and either excite or frustrate me. Even though this is a PS3 site you find of course news on other consoles. beside that I track all of my games within the database. Call me crazy, but I guess it’s fair to say that I am a Playstation fanboy.

How long has your site been going for?

Well, I started playstation-disorder.com over two years ago mainly as a companion site for the PS3 launch here in Europe, which we all know got delayed shortly after

retrozoid.net Interviews Retro Gamer Magazine

June 14th, 2008 | Category: Interview, Retro

We have an exclusive interview with the Editor of Retro Gamer Magazine, the magazine is a MUST READ every issue, a big thank you to Darren and Retro Gamer Magazine for this. Here it goes(edit: Thanks to Greg Richmond for the idea to interview Darran)

Tell retrozoid.net a bit about yourself

My name’s Darran Jones and I’m the editor of Retro Gamer. I’m 34 years old and have lived in the Bournemouth/Poole area all my life.

Tell us about your job role at Retro Ramer

I’m the editor, so ultimately I’m responsible for quality control within the magazine, its actual content and I even write the odd article or two. It’s an incredibly hectic job, but also one that’s amazingly rewarding.

How long have you worked at Retro Gamer and do you enjoy your job?

I’ve been in charge of the magazine ever since it relaunched in December 2007. I absolutely adore my job, as it’s challenging, enjoyable and there’s always something new to do. There’s nothing more satisfying that holding a magazine you’ve helped create at the end of a long, hard month.

Our interview with Jason from retrogames.co.uk

June 11th, 2008 | Category: Interview, Retro

We have had the privilage to interview Jason who owns and runs a great website called Retro Games. Here is the full interview

So then tell our readers a bit about yourself.
Yeah no problem. Im Jason Moore and im 37 and from Milton Keynes

Tell us a bit about your website
I run www.retrogames.co.uk  While retrogames, retrogamer, and retrogaming are common terms now, until we started advertising in 1995, the words retro and games weren’t associated. The retrogames site started back in 1997, primarily to list all our inventory for sale, and to help guide people to the Retrogames magazine which was enjoying success at the time. The last issue of the Retrogames magazine was in 2004, but the site continues to grow, and now has biggest inventory of classic games and machines for sale on the web

What made you want to start this website?
When retrogames started in 1995 as a magazine, I started listing games at the back, and helped improve my own collection by selling and trading them. That part of the magazine grew and grew, before long I was making 30 page catalogs and sending them out to hundreds of collectors every few months. The internet was a brilliant replacement for this process, initially our site was full of static lists of games, but now the retail part of the site has grown into a massive shop.

retrozoid.net Interviews Atheistium

June 02nd, 2008 | Category: Interview

In this weeks Interview I have had the privilage to interview Atheistium. She is a gamer and writes for several big websites. I couldnt possibly write for several sites, It wouldnt leave me much time to work! Heres the Interview:

So then Atheistium tell us a bit about yourself

My name is Lauren Alison Wainwright and i am 21 years old and i come from Portsmouth in Hampshire.

What Sites are you currently involved in?

I am currently working with a number of sites.

The first is Destructoid.com a hardcore video game blog. I attend a number of events promoting them by wearing t-shirts and handing out business cards as well as play with the community. The other is a fortnightly podcast called the Pod castle - its a European central podcast hosted by Jim Sterling, Myself and Wardrox. We talk, bitch and moan about gaming in Europe and games we are playing right now. We are all normal gamers and get games usually same time (sometimes early if we are lucky) of release as the European Public so we can tell then to bother with it or not. Also general news and community guests from all over Europe (that speak english). We are getting quite a following with it!

The second is Tomopop.com which is a blog for toy enthusiasts. There are many Anime/japan culture sites that talk about toys on the side but we are 100% toys all the time. We cover any toy from anime to american cartoon to odd papercraft and events. Adult, childrens and arty! Everything is there! Apart from random toy news I also run a monthly article called “Do Want” (example) which is about our most wanted toys that month! A fun read really.

The last is a well known UK gaming clan called Veni Vidi Vici (VVV) over at teamvvv.com. There I work on content for the site, working with teams and competing in Call of Duty 4. I hope to bring a fresh look & feel to the team and website so keep an eye on there for a while new things are a-coming!

I do lots of side projects as well and do plenty of chatting to other websites, small features and such. Those three however are my main jobs online haha.

What do you like writing about on these great sites?

Toys, Games, Culture, Anime, Funny things, things that annoy me. Anything. I am an all rounder really. Obviously the communities I am in online push me to write about gaming and the culture surrounding it. However I do seldom life blogs and non-gaming things I am enjoying.

I am extremely passionate about gaming and its culture and seeing what makes people tick. I tend to write things that might rise some emotion in people. Like some of my anti fake girl gamers rants or my popular but maybe not liked rant about Mario. I want a reaction from people with my writing and I get it when I sit down and put a good half an hour into something haha. A lot of the time people want to read about lesbiens so what can you do?

What are your Favourite Games of ALL TIME?

Tomb Raider, Dino Crisis, COD4, Metal Gear Solid, Parasite Eve, Lemmings, Resident Evil 2, Dead or Alive 2 and Final Fantasy 8. Oh and Half Life 2! haha.. wait… there is more, lol.

In terms of the Xbox Live Arcade, what is your best game?

It would have to be Rez HD or E4

Do you own a PlayStation 3?

Not yet but il be saving up for one as Metal Gear Solid is due out soon!

What would you say your best moment on Xbox live is so far?

There are so many but my probably when I solo play and get abuse for being female in COD4 and then dominate after and all the people who gave me hassle prior were sending me friend invites

What is your proudest Achievement that you have unlocked so far?

Getting all the secrets in Tomb Raider Anniversary and unlocking it felt good. I was very satified with unlocking the achievement for completing COD4 on veteran however

Now then for my final Question, What games are you most looking foward to?

It would have to be Tomb Raider Underworld, Left for Dead and a bunch of RPG titles hitting the 360. I really want a PS3 for metal gear though, it looks beautiful, Final Fantasy 13! Obviously Fable 2 and GOW2 are big on my list as well. Oh man, I want all of those games. So much coming out that I need to own! Also - Where is my Star Ocean for PSP? Come on Japan hurry up!
