PS3 Firmware v2.40 Confirmed!

On Sony’s US Playstation Blog, they have officialy CONFIRMED the v2.40 firmware update for the PS3.

“We’re happy to officially report that the 2.40 system software update for PS3 will include “XMB” access in-game. The update will also include “trophies,” an exciting new feature that we’ll be providing more details on soon, as well as some other new enhancements. We’ve talked about some of this previously and know that many of you can’t wait to get your hands on these features. You can expect us to share all of the official details shortly.”

There is no date yet for this but at least it is now official

    Achievements on Xbox 360 were a masterstroke, they kept me playing games I would not have touched otherwise.

    I like the idea of these Trophies but will they detect the games we have already played??

    Would be rubbish if they only counted from when the update goes live, nothing for Motorstorm, Resistance, VF5, MGS4 etc etc for me then :(
