Alone in the Dark: First Impressions
I was pleasantly surprised when i recived my mail this morning to find Alone in the Dark for the Xbox 360 in the pile. Il be honest with you, even though there is some hype around for this game, i was not phased by it as i have not played any of the other Alone in the Dark games.
The moment i put the game into my Xbox 360 i thought that the menu screens were nice and the opening scene was great. Alone in the Dark plays a lot like the Resident Evil games and for those of you that have not played any of these then this game will prove to be a daunting task.
I felt that in the first Act the games atmosphere was not what i thought it would beĀ and there was not enough lighting around so you could not see really where you were going. Also the fighting system is not great as to hit someone with your weapon you will have to swing your right analogue stick back and foward while locking on with your LT trigger. The graphics are not as good as Condemned 2 which surprised me as OXM praise Atari for doing a really good job in that department.
I am just starting Act 3 now so expect a full review by early next week
When it turned up this morning the first thing that caught my eye was the two magazines who had reviewed it on the front of the box…not the greatest for gaming reviews are they.
Anyway, I’ve finished the first act now and I have to admit while the controls are very dodgy I did enjoy the first act.
I’ll agree with you about the graphics, nothing special at all really which is a shame considering the amount of time this game has been delayed (It was meant for a before Xmas 07 release.)
What I do like is the TV episode style to it, its very very creative. I also like the fact that if you get stuck on a section you can just skip forward by fast forwarding the episode, thats genius!! (Although I havent had to use that feature just yet)

Haha - I wouldn’t trust a game that actually itself put two 4/5 reviews on the front of it by FHM and MAXIM! If I was in charge, I’d hide them as much as I could!
