Review: Lego Indiana Jones

Ore: 07:44 - Tags: PS3, Review, Xbox 360

Travellers Tales have really done well for themeselves releasing the Star Wars in a LEGO format, and they have made really well designed and easy to play games that are for all ages.

I thought to myself that Travellers Tales could not possibly be able to beat the LEGO Star Wars games but after playing through the game, it is safe to say that this game is the best LEGO game ever released!

First off, the thing i really liked about LEGO: Indiana Jones is the easy to pick up aspect of it. Any one can pick up this game and have a blast and the game is well taught to you through the game, with hints on the screen and the simplicity of the controls. I was hooked the moment i completed the first level.

You can control over 45 characters throughout the game and some of the main characters have their own special moves like Marion, she can jump really high compared to Indy. This aspect improves where LEGO Star Wars did not do and that is more Puzzles and using abilities to do certain tasks. You have to work hard to complete certain levels, whether it means finding a wrench to fix a plane or using the language book and correctly finding the right sequence to complete a puzzle.

In this game there are several different but great weapons such as a pistol or a sword, better yet the BAZOOKA! This weapon provided me with the most kills in a row, i think it was 7, using the bazooka you get to solve puzzles and destroy key items that will let you complete the levels.

There are the 3 main chapters in the game, Raiders of the Lost Ark, Temple of Doom and The Last Crucade each living up to the films in LEGO style that is extremely funny and even though they cannot talk, their actions speak louder than words. One example is at the end of the first level, you get to take the artifact off the stand and the boulder comes to you, then you have to hand over that artifact over to the main bad guy. Indy tries several amusing artifacts like C3-P0’s head and a rubber duck.

As i mentioned earlier, you have to solve a lot more puzzles in this game. This is where Co-op is important, if you are playing on your own you have to switch between your characters and solve them that way. If you have a friend over then this game truly shines, Solving puzzles with your mates can bring you closer together and compared to Star Wars, co-op has an actual benefit when playing! Granted that there is no Xbox Live Play or over the PSN Network which is to be honest the only downfall of this great game.

LEGO: Indiana Jones will take a good while to complete, even though the levels are not that long, getting 100% will take quite a while especially when collecting all of the artifacts and the studs.

Verdict

Longevity: 9

Gameplay: 9.5

Sound: 8.7

Graphics: 9

Overall: 9.3

“A great game that can be enjoyed by anyone, a lack of online play is the only downfall”
